Threads
Threads are conversations you have with @aptiblebot
and your team in Slack.
You don’t have to start an Incident to ask @aptiblebot
questions—all of the context, logs, metrics, and tools are available to you
at any time.
Starting a Thread
You can ask @aptiblebot
questions in any new or existing Slack thread, as
long as you have invited it to that channel. If you ask it a question
in an existing Slack thread, Aptible AI will look at the entire conversation
history of that thread, including any automated alerts or notifications, when
providing an answer.

Threads and Incidents
You can start tracking an Incident any time in a conversation by saying something like:
@aptiblebot
start an incident
Example Incident Workflow
You might get an automated Slack alert from an observability tool saying that
your app is experiencing high error rates. Start by asking @aptiblebot
to pull the most recent logs for that app, to provide CPU and memory usage
metrics, custom internal tools or any other data that
might help you understand what is happening.
After reviewing the data, you might determine that customers are being affected
and you would then tell @aptiblebot
to start an Incident.
Starting an Incident will track the tools and references used, the time it took to fix the Incident, and the root causes.
Threads in the Dashboard
Every time a Thread is started with @aptiblebot
, it is tracked in the
dashboard under the Threads tab:
For each Thread, you can see the entire conversation history, including:
- The thought process, integration and tool calls, and responses made by Aptible AI
- The participants from your team
- The documents, code, previous conversations, or any other links referenced by your team or Aptible AI
These references are used to generate the Insights dashboard.
