Setting up Slack with Aptible AI involves 3 steps: adding the bot to your workspace, inviting it to the channels where you want to ask it questions, and telling Aptible AI which channels to search through when generating answers for your team.

Adding @aptiblebot to Slack

The first step is to add Aptible AI to your Slack workspace. To do so, log in to Aptible AI and navigate to the Settings page:

Clicking on the “Install Slack App” button will take you to the Slack OAuth flow where you can add the Slack app to your workspace. Once installed, you should see a confirmation message from @aptiblebot:

Inviting @aptiblebot to Channels For Interactions

Now that you’ve added @aptiblebot to your workspace, you need to invite it to the channels where you want to ask it questions.

For each channel, click on the channel’s name and then open the “Integrations” tab:

Click on “Add an App” and then search for @aptiblebot:

Repeat this process for every channel in which you want Aptible AI’s help.

Telling Aptible AI Where To Look For Answers

Finally, and optionally, Aptible AI can use previous conversations in your Slack workspace to help answer future questions from your team.

Aptible AI will only search through channels you have explicitly given it permission to search. Adding @aptiblebot to a channel does not automatically give it permission to search through that channel.

During early access, please provide us with a list of any Slack channels you would like Aptible AI to use when searching for answers. You’ll be able to select these channels in the dashboard shortly.
